Context

Project made under a contract with a software agency.

Project setup

This client already had the product idea in mind and a few preliminary concept screens drafting main features and visual identity, although it was not yet defined. I worked closely with the PM and PO to understand this complex project, diving into the finances and investment world, so we could propose solutions to generate real impact. After a design briefing session with he sales team, I worked to define a more solid visual identity for the app and transform the solutions into interfaces. When a big chunk of the flows were already defined and approved by the clients, I brought the rest of the design team to help complete this huge product.

The problem

For those who do not work with finance, entering this world can be challenging and intimidating. Today, there are a lot of opportunities to grow your wealth with investments and other methods, but they are complicated, especially when you don't have a trusted advisor to point you in the right direction. There is too much information available for the general public, and it's hard to differentiate what is trustworthy or if it works for you.

Product proposal

Bonsai's proposal is to be your personal smart financial advisor at the reach of your hand. With simple chat interactions, the AI-powered copilot can explain complex concepts for you and create a financial plan that fits your context. By using trusted third-party integrations, Bonsai gives you the ability to put the copilot's advice into practice, directly investing your money and managing financial goals, all in the same app.

The solution

In order to bring Bonsai's concept to life, I developed an elegant brand identity to convey modernity and trust. But visuals alone do not solve any problems by themselves; this is why several alternatives and discussions with the development team were necessary to build intuitive and smooth user flows.

The main challenge was improving certain long flows whilst complying with financial regulations from the UK, so experimenting was essential.
